Role Profile 

Lean Manufacturing Operatives work in high-volume production environments, operating equipment, following standardised processes, and maintaining health, safety, and quality standards. They contribute to continuous improvement activities and support efficient production operations.

  • A: The apprenticeship usually takes 12 to 18 months to complete.

  • A: The EPA consists of three elements:

    • Knowledge Test: Multiple-choice questions.

    • Practical Observation: Demonstration of skills in the workplace.

    • Professional Discussion: Reflection on portfolio evidence.

    All three elements must be passed to successfully achieve the apprenticeship.

    • A: Yes, apprentices must:

      • Complete the Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills).

      • Achieve English and Maths at Level 1 before the EPA, and attempt Level 2.

  • A: Yes, apprentices will specialise in one of the following four pathways:

    • Manufacturing Production

    • Manufacturing Assembly

    • Manufacturing Finishing

    • Manufacturing Quality Inspection

  • A:

    • Funding Band: £6,000

    • Non-levy Employer Contribution: £300 (5%)

    Government funding may be available to support training and assessment costs.

  • A: Apprentices can progress to:

    • Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship (Level 3)

    • Higher-level technical roles

    • Further education in manufacturing or engineering disciplines
