Role Profile

Supply Chain Warehouse Operatives work in warehouses, distribution centres, and logistics operations to keep goods flowing efficiently and safely. They receive, store, pack, and dispatch products to customers on time and in full. They are responsible for using equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and IT systems, while maintaining high standards of health and safety and ensuring goods are handled correctly.

Apprentices develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours in:

- Health, safety and security: working to safe systems of work, manual handling, PPE, and reporting hazards.
- Receiving and storing goods: unloading, checking, and recording deliveries.
- Order picking and dispatch: selecting products, packing, labelling, and preparing goods for delivery.
- Stock control: monitoring inventory, rotating stock, and updating IT systems.
- Equipment use: operating forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Teamwork and communication: working effectively with colleagues, drivers, and customers to meet service requirements.

Non-levy Employer Contribution: £250 (5%)

Role Profile

Transport and Warehouse Operations Supervisors manage day‑to‑day logistics operations to meet customer, legal and regulatory requirements. They lead teams, allocate resources, and ensure safe, compliant and efficient transport and warehousing activity. The standard follows a core and options model: all apprentices complete the core and then specialise as a Transport Operations Supervisor or Warehouse Operations Supervisor.

Apprentices develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours in:

- Compliance & safety: DVSA roadworthiness, operator licensing, drivers’ hours and WTD, load security, H&S risk assessment.
- People & performance: recruitment, appraisals/PDRs, training plans (including DCPC needs), managing KPIs and productivity.
- Operations & planning: route planning, resource allocation, vehicle choice and maintenance scheduling; warehouse receiving, stowing, picking, despatch and returns.
- Security & environment: site, vehicle and load security; environmental requirements (e.g., clean air zones, recycling).
- IT & data: telematics, WMS/TMS and reporting to monitor performance and costs.
- Customer & communication: brief/debrief, incident reporting, internal/external communications.
- Continuous improvement: identifying and implementing process improvements.

Options (Specialisms)

- Transport Operations Supervisor – driver and vehicle compliance, route scheduling, operator licence compliance, incident reporting.

-Warehouse Operations Supervisor – goods‑in, storage and stock control, picking/packing/decanting, despatch and reverse logistics.
