Transport and Warehouse Operations Supervisors manage day‑to‑day logistics operations to meet customer, legal and regulatory requirements. They lead teams, allocate resources, and ensure safe, compliant and efficient transport and warehousing activity. The standard follows a core and options model: all apprentices complete the core and then specialise as a Transport Operations Supervisor or Warehouse Operations Supervisor.

Course Content
Apprentices develop skills and knowledge in:

DVSA roadworthiness, operator licensing, drivers’ hours and WTD, load security, H&S risk assessment.

Recruitment, appraisals/PDRs, training plans (including DCPC needs), managing KPIs and productivity.

Route planning, resource allocation, vehicle choice and maintenance scheduling; warehouse receiving, stowing, picking, despatch and returns.

Site, vehicle and load security; environmental requirements (e.g., clean air zones, recycling).

Telematics, WMS/TMS and reporting to monitor performance and costs.

Brief/debrief, incident reporting, internal/external communications.

This apprenticeship offers two key specialisms:
Transport Operations Supervisor: Focuses on driver and vehicle compliance, route scheduling, operator licence compliance, and incident reporting.
Warehouse Operations Supervisor: Covers goods-in, storage and stock control, picking/packing/decanting, despatch, and reverse logistics.

The apprenticeship typically lasts 12 months to gateway, followed by an end-point assessment period of approximately 4 months.

For those pursuing the Transport Operations Supervisor specialism, the following mandatory qualifications are required:
Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for Transport Managers (Road Haulage)
Ministry of Defence: Junior Transport Operator (Level 3)
There are no mandatory qualifications for those in the Warehouse Operations Supervisor specialism.

English and maths qualifications must be completed in line with apprenticeship funding rules before reaching the gateway stage.
Employers may set their own specific entry requirements, which could vary.
