Supply Chain Warehouse Operatives work in warehouses, distribution centres, and logistics operations to keep goods flowing efficiently and safely. They receive, store, pack, and dispatch products to customers on time and in full. They are responsible for using equipment such as forklifts, pallet trucks, and IT systems, while maintaining high standards of health and safety and ensuring goods are handled correctly.

Course Content 

Apprentices develop skills and knowledge in: 

  • Working to safe systems of work, manual handling, PPE, and reporting hazards. 

  • Unloading, checking, and recording deliveries.

  • Selecting products, packing, labelling, and preparing goods for delivery. 

  • Monitoring inventory, rotating stock, and updating IT systems.

  • Operating forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently. 

  • Working effectively with colleagues, drivers, and customers to meet service requirements.

  • The apprenticeship usually lasts 12 months, followed by an end-point assessment (EPA) period.

  • The EPA is designed to assess your knowledge, skills, and behaviours. It includes three key components:

    1. Knowledge Test – a multiple-choice test assessing your theoretical understanding.

    2. Practical Assessment – an observation of tasks carried out in the workplace.

    3. Interview – a structured question-and-answer session supported by evidence from your portfolio.

    All elements must be passed to successfully achieve the apprenticeship.

  • Yes. Apprentices must:

    • Achieve English and maths at Level 1 (if not already held).

    • Attempt Level 2 English and maths before taking the EPA.

    Employers may also set their own specific entry requirements.

    • Funding Band: £5,000

    • Non-levy Employer Contribution: £250 (5%)

    Government funding support may be available, depending on the apprentice’s age and the size of the employer.

  • After completing this apprenticeship, individuals can progress to:

    • Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship (Level 3)

    • Roles in warehouse management, stock control, or logistics coordination
